University Research and Teaching Building, 038045

This teaching block is for a leading university, located on a campus where some tall buildings already exist. The climate is harsh in winter, and warm during summer months. The facility is largely for the teaching of medical students. This mini-tower comprises a small library above the entrance area, with cafes located in the ground floor area. Immediately above is the small library is the large digital library with associated work spaces. Above that are teaching rooms with a with a large auditorium space in the upper part of the building. There are two auditoriums a high level, accessed through the projecting glazed volume in the façade at high level. This space provides an opportunity for students and staff to enjoy standing slightly outside the main volumes of the building.
