This project is an astronomical observatory for a university located in a suburban location where the air is relatively clear with moderate levels of humidity for most of the year allowing for astronomical observations to be to be carried out within a university context rather than in isolation at high altitude. The observatory requires limited use of an optical telescope, as most research is carried out through a digital telescope, set high above street level, above street level traffic pollution and dust. This allowed the telescope and associated equipment to be set above the teaching and research floors, which are located at ground and first floor levels. Above the podium, the doors which are characteristic of an observatory slide to one side in order to reveal the telescope to the night sky. There was no need for the for the top of the observatory to be to be hemispherical as the equipment is not required to rotate in the same way with only specific portions of the sky of the night sky being observed.
