Railway Station Hub, 038449

This large railway station provides a hub for three lines which link an airport, a regional express service and an international line. The form of the building reflects the enclosures needed for both access to trains and their daily servicing. The building does not have a central large space or hall, but instead has prefabricated modules which surround the trains like ships in a port. This approach allows the trains to be boarded safely and quickly, while allowing carriages to be loaded and serviced with freight. The absence of a central open space provides the opportunity for the experience of movement through a sequence of linked spaces that herald public transportation in the 2020s.
