Why Newtecnic

Architecture is realised through construction, and Newtecnic exists to develop that relationship.

Newtecnic approaches architecture, engineering and construction as interdependent components of a single process. Architectural, structural and environmental considerations are developed together from the outset, allowing design decisions to be informed by the technical, material and construction realities that ultimately shape the built outcome.

Rather than treating engineering, fabrication and construction as activities that follow architecture, they are understood as sources of knowledge capable of contributing to architecture itself. Construction is therefore considered not only as a means of realisation but also as a means of understanding.

The objective is to create buildings in which architectural character, technical performance and constructability emerge through the coordination of interdependent systems. This position informs the projects, publications and research undertaken by the practice and underpins Newtecnic's continuing endeavour to develop architecture as a constructive discipline.
